What the scores are, and what they are not.
This page explains the method and evidence behind every stage of SignalCheck Teams. It says plainly what a SignalCheck score is, what it may be used for, and what evidence stands behind it today. It is written to be read before anything is booked.
Five numbers, one fixed scale
What the scores are
- Standardised delivery conditions, every session
- The same five dimensions and fixed bands
- Structured expert judgement against published bands
- Reviewed by a person on every report
What they are not
- A psychometric norm table
- A language test
- A personality assessment
What the scores may be used for
SignalCheck is built for development and team-level insight. It is not built for hiring, promotion, performance rating, disciplinary action or dismissal decisions. Individual scores must not be used for any of those purposes.
No hiring, promotion, performance-management, redundancy or disciplinary decision may be based on SignalCheck or SignalResponse data.
Why reassessment uses equivalent scenarios
Plainly: repeating the exact same questions would measure memory, not change. So the second assessment uses different situations at the same level of difficulty.
- One set of pressure situations
- The five dimensions, the fixed bands
- Standardised delivery conditions
- Different situations, matched for pressure, timing and difficulty
- The same five dimensions, the same bands
- The same delivery conditions
Reassessment across the same dimensions and equivalent conditions provides structured evidence of directional movement: what improved and what still needs work.
What is established, and what is in progress
EstablishedThe bands and the scoring rubric come from sixteen years of live sessions. The dimensions, the bands and the review protocol are fixed and documented.
In progressValidation work is continuing: formal studies of scoring consistency between reviewers, and of reassessment stability. We publish what is established and we say plainly what is not yet.
Established
- The same five dimensions, bands and delivery conditions, every session
- A trained reviewer applies the same scoring rules to every report
- The bands and rubric come from sixteen years of live sessions, documented
In progress
- Formal studies of scoring consistency between reviewers
- Formal studies of reassessment stability
Not claimed
- Psychometric validation or a normed instrument
- A promise that scores will rise, or a proven financial return
- That any single cause explains a change in score
How scoring stays fair
Scoring instructions require reviewers to score observable delivery, not accent, and to separate a thinking pause from a lost thread.
