A SignalCheck is a private 45-minute assessment. It uses unexpected questions, interruptions and follow-up questions to show how clearly and confidently you respond. The same five dimensions are scored for every person. A trained reviewer checks the result before delivery.
What happens during the 45 minutes
A SignalCheck is a live conversation. It starts easy. Then the situations become more demanding: a senior stakeholder arrives, a deadline is questioned, a decision is challenged in front of other people. Those are the moments where communication can change, so SignalCheck includes them deliberately.
We call these conditions pressure. It means observable things: a changing question, an interruption, a challenged decision, limited response time, or a larger and more senior audience. It is not a psychological judgement.
A strong English level does not guarantee strong communication under pressure. SignalCheck measures patterns that language tests and general training can miss.
The session runs in three parts, and the 15-minute conversation with a reviewer is included in the 45 minutes. The pressure parts are delivered under standardised conditions, explained on the delivery page. There is no test and nothing to revise.
The first language question, and what your answer means
Does this happen in your first language too?
In their first language, many professionals are quick, direct and clear. The same person in English, under pressure, pauses, softens the point, or starts the answer with an apology.
The answer helps us understand where the pattern appears. If it mainly appears under pressure in English, development can focus on that situation. If it also appears in the person’s first language, the report records the wider pattern.
SignalCheck does not diagnose a person’s language level from this answer. It is one part of the assessment.
Five dimensions, measured in demanding situations
Every session uses the same five dimensions and scoring bands. This makes a later result meaningful against the first.
The written report uses these same five names, so the report, this site and the conversation about them always use one vocabulary.
Where SignalScan fits

The other three need a longer sample, which is why the full SignalCheck takes 45 minutes. A SignalScan is 20 minutes with an assessor and the result is talked through in the session. Automated support, human review
The instrument delivers the session and produces a draft analysis. A SignalCheck expert reads the draft against the session and can change the result. No report is delivered unreviewed. The instrument reports observable communication patterns: it does not judge personality, technical ability or language level.
A written report you can act on
Every SignalCheck ends with a written report. It names the strength, the gap, and the one change that will move the most. For a team engagement, each person receives their own private report, and the leader receives the team map. The map never names an individual.
